The work is underway. We'll keep you updated on our progress.
What is happening? We're upgrading and patching our infrastructure monitoring system – SolarWinds Server and Application Monitor (or SAM). There will be no impact on users or UoD IT while this work is taking place.
Why is this happening? As part of the VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) project, we will shortly be implementing a SolarWinds product called “Virtualization Manager” to augment our current virtual infrastructure monitoring capabilities. To make this possible, we need to upgrade SAM.
This work also goes hand-in-hand with widening monitoring coverage to include Life Sciences which, for various reasons, has not been possible until now. When all of this work is completed the status of all of our IT infrastructure will be visible in one place, and a single system will communicate bi-directionally with TOPdesk. It’s actually quite a big deal.
What should you do? As there will be no impact on users or UoD IT, you don’t need to do anything.
