And so the Solarwinds saga has happily concluded: the system is now running the latest version and you can use it once more.

It took a little longer than it should have today due to some deficiencies in what the install engine was doing or, to be more exact, not doing. But, with the help of a Solarwinds support webex and some patience, we got there in the end.

I'm now going through my post-upgrade checklist to see that everything's working as it should.

You will be pleased to know that Solarwinds support has clarified our query regarding the upgrade, and we are now able to proceed with this task.

The upgrade process will start at 10:00am and should be completed by 12noon, Tuesday, 13th June 2023. If you would like more information around this upgrade, please refer to change C2301-048 and ticket number 2303-6529.

We needed to consult with Solarwinds to clarify the result of one of the final system checks prior to upgrading to the latest version of the Solarwinds software. While we await their answer, we have decided to postpone the installation in order to ensure the system remains stable. Please continue to use Solarwinds as normal and we will get back in touch with an update soon. Thanks once again for your patience.

We have had to postpone the Solar Winds upgrade (C2301-048). During our pre-upgrade checks it was identified that one of the servers had become unstable. As a result, the decision was taken to postpone the upgrade until we have identified the current cause. We will update when we are ready to proceed with this change. The Solar Winds reporting is operational.

We’re upgrading SolarWinds to the latest version, during which time the service will be unavailable. During this upgrade we ask that all users log out of the SolarWinds system before 12pm on the date of the upgrade to avoid any impact to their work.

Keeping our systems up to date with the latest software patches and updates is crucial to maintaining the security and stability of our IT infrastructure and ensuring that SolarWinds continues to perform optimally.

While we don't expect any issues, sometimes unexpected things happen. We'll update this post with progress.
